Public attitudes to road safety

The Public Attitudes to Road Safety quarterly survey, covering the period April to June 2024, details the results of responses provided by 1,806 New Zealanders to a broad range of road safety questions. This included  attitudes to enforcement, speed, vehicle safety, impaired driving, distraction, driver fatigue and safety cameras.

The survey has been undertaken periodically since 1974 and annually since 1994, with the then Land Transport Safety Authority continuing the survey till 2004. From 2005 to 2016, the Ministry of Transport carried out the survey before being picked by by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.
